Maurio Grando is an RF/Antenna Engineer who designs, builds, and tests instruments that operate in diverse, complex and challenging environmental conditions. Some examples are space, dilution refrigerators (cryogenic and quantum experiments), even molten salt on one occasion. In addition, he has experience with contributing to programs in the national defense sector.
He brings a diverse background of experience that has helped him craft a very unique toolbox of RF, antenna, phased array and general RF system design knowledge.
Specialties Include:
EM Theory and sensor design.
RF systems analysis in quantum limited cryogenic systems using components such as JPAs and JPCs
RF systems analysis for mmWave, radar, and near field imaging.
Electromagnetic modeling experience of RF designs (Antennas, PCBs, waveguides) in CST and HFSS.
Design of single element sensor and phased array antenna systems.
RF Test equipment experience (PNA, Signal Generators, Synthesizers, Spectrum Analyzers, Real time spectrum analyzers, pulsed power meters, etc. ).
Software experience with Labview, Matlab, Python, ADS, HFSS, CST
Phase noise estimation and PLL modeling.
Spaceflight Systems Integration for high profile space programs.
Experience leading RF Design teams.
Knowledge of and experience with design methodologies for spaceflight systems.
